The future of OPNAV is coming. Built on over 15 years of research and following an object-oriented paradigm, SONIC represents a completely modern reinterpretation of optical navigation (OPNAV) software. For a wide variety of problems, exact results are made transparently available to the analyst by taking full advantage of algebraic projective geometry. SONIC is also fully integrated with the latest star catalogs and planetary ephemeris information. When combined with SONIC’s relativistic treatment of light and flexible optics modeling, this allows the analyst to perform precision camera calibration and spacecraft localization.
